Conventional Medicine

Marmalade & Mobile Vet offers full service veterinary care in the comfort of your own home. Many dogs respond much better to being examined at home. And cats and carriers were never a match made in heaven.

We can do almost everything that you would expect from going into a veterinary hospital.

Annual Wellness Exams, Vaccines, and Microchip Implantation:

Every pet is evaluated as an individual when it comes to vaccines. We do not have a standard cook book style protocol, but will instead take a detailed history to help you decide what diseases your pet is at risk for developing and use that information to come up with an individualized vaccine program. We also offer vaccine titers to help determine if your pet requires a particular vaccine.

Routine fecal examinations and blood work for Heartworm Disease, tick borne diseases (Lyme disease, Ehrlichiosis, Anaplasmosis), Feline Leukemia (FeLV), and Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV) are offered during you pet’s annual exam.

Dermatology:

We can examine your pet’s ears and skin to determine if there are infections, parasites, allergies, or any other more complex dermatological problem. We offer Greer serum allergy testing to help determine if your pet has allergies to such things as trees, grasses, dust mites, fungal allergens, or household insects. While serum allergy testing doesn’t work for determining food allergies, we can help you in selecting a diet to might aid in controlling allergy symptoms. And of course we have multiple pharmaceutical options.

Dentistry:

Oral health is very important because any infection in your pet’s mouth can spread to other places in the body like the heart, liver, and kidneys. We will examine you pet’s gums and teeth to determine the appropriate treatment options.

Ophthalmology:

Any problems that you notice with your pet’s eyes should be addressed immediately. We can examine your pet’s eyes to determine if there are problems like corneal ulcers, abnormal eyelashes or eyelids, dry eye, glaucoma, and many other problems.

Endocrine Diseases:

If you notice any problems like weight loss, weight gain, excess drinking, excess urination, anorexia, increased appetite, poor coat condition, hyperactivity, lethargy, or chronic gastrointestinal symptoms your pet should be evaluated for an endocrine disease. Some examples of the common diseases that we can test for and treat are diabetes, thyroid diseases (hypothyroidism in dogs and hyperthyroidism in cats), Cushing’s disease, and Addison’s disease.

General Medicine:

Problems with the immune system, infections, gastrointestinal disease (including inflammatory bowel disease), heart disease, lung problems, kidney disease, liver disease, bladder problems, and musculoskeletal problems (including arthritis) are some of the things that can be diagnosed and treated at Marmalade & Mobile Vet.

Behavior:

Sometimes the best place to evaluate a behavior problem is in the home. We will carefully listen to your history when it comes to a behavioral problem and help you to determine what might help your pet. Note: Behavior problems that involve aggression where there is potential for harming a human will usually be referred to a behavioral specialist.

Cancer:

While we do not offer chemotherapy, we can assist in the diagnosis of cancer and help you to determine if a referral to an oncologist is right for you and your pet. We offer supportive care in the form of pain management and non-traditional therapy like diet, supplements, herbs, and other nutraceuticals.

Diagnostics:

We like having high-tech equipment as much as any veterinary hospital. That is why we have a portable monitor to check your pet’s blood pressure and electrocardiogram (EKG), a Tono-Pen XL to measure intraocular pressure if glaucoma is suspected, a microscope to evaluate biological specimens, and our own in-house laboratory for same-day blood work results.

At Home Euthanasia:

We feel that this allows your pet to be treated with the dignity and respect they deserve for having been a loyal companion while providing an experience that is less stressful for everyone involved. We always use the highest quality herbs and supplements, like those from Standard Process, MediHerb, VetriScience, and Nutramax.
